CENTER is pleased to present Splendor and Misery, a solo exhibition of iconic photographer Joel-Peter Witkin. Witkin's work reaches beyond the fine art world to high fashion including Alexander McQueen's runway and has inspired imagery for Nine Inch Nails videos. Drawing from a rich body of sources—literature, myth, and Renaissance and Baroque painting—he creates elaborate tableaux that explore perverse, erotic, and religious concerns. He considers morality as central to his work. Braddy Romero Ricalde Braddy was born in Cusco, Peru in 1976. He studied art at the Diego Quispe Tito Institute of Fine Arts in Cusco and furthered his studies of classic European drawing with Edwin Chavez Farfan, a maestro of local renown. In 2003, Braddy was selected by the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C. as that year’s promising young Latin American artist.
