Native Contemporary

These words speak to Peoples who determine our Aboriginal Story and in some instances allow our being regarded as Native. This group is comprised of Contemporary Native Peoples who are Generational from the immediate areas and from the wider now American landscape.

Works include those by Karoniaktatie Alex Jacobs (Mohawk Nation, Akwesasne); Robert I. Mesa (Fort Defiance, Soboba/Navajo); Fernando Rivera Ramirez (Arica, Chile,) Braddy Romero Ricalde (Cusco, Peru); Santi Hitorangi (Rapa Nui) who recalls in his work the History, destruction, recuperation of his Home Place; and Louanne Redeye (Jamestown, NY, Seneca Nation of Indians and Hawk Clan).

The works in the Permanent Collection are that very necessary conversation on Self, Community and History.
