Inside] Out presents their Seventh Annual Art Exhibition + Sale

In 2019, the exhibition takes a thematic approach—SEE ME, HEAR ME: Art and Mental Health in New Mexico. The exhibition features the work of thirty-four artists who identify as living with a mental illness.  Stigmas surrounding mental illness have created a silo and a sense of separateness to society. SEE ME, HEAR ME expresses the desire to be seen and heard in a society that enforces rigid standards of ‘normalcy.’ The eighty-one artworks feature landscapes of New Mexico, self-portraits, geometric designs, abstractions, photography, and other creative articulations in a variety of media. Inside Out Arts is a program of Breaking the Silence/New Mexico, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes mental health literacy, well-being, and advocacy for youth, teens, and adults utilizing education, personal story, and the arts. Our work addresses the public health crisis of mental illness, suicide, and associated stigma.
